Over the past several years, I have enjoyed being invited to be an "artist in the garden" on the annual garden tour for Mill Valley's Outdoor Art Club. This year, the organizers asked to use my Geraniums painting for the promotional poster and invitation, which is an honor - and good exposure. This painting has certainly made the rounds -- it's been featured in Marin Magazine and in the Marin Open Studios gallery. The original painting is now back in the studio and it is for sale. I've had requests for prints of this painting - which is an affordable and attractive option for people who like to have their art under glass - so I have decided to make it available as a matted photo print, for $50. Geraniums will be printed half-size (11 x 14 inches) and matted to fit into a standard 16 x 20 inch frame. You can order it here.

At the beginning of 2012, I set an ambitious goal. I wanted to double the number of paintings and prints sold, and double the income I made as an artist. It's a step in my transition plan from my marketing and communications career to my art career. It's the second week in December and I am currently ONE painting, FOUR prints and PENNIES away from reaching my goal. Inventory is low, as of today are only FIVE landscape and still life paintings and ONE print available at Moss and Moss, Mill Valley. I also have the following framed floral paintings available in the studio -- they are not listed on my website, so please contact me for details on sizes, frame types and pricing. Looking ahead to a promising 2013, I have been awarded an Artist's Residency in Sonoma County (more on that later), and look forward to tipping my career balance further in the direction of art. Thank you for your continual encouragement, kind words, Facebook "likes," purchases of notecards, prints and for acquiring paintings for your collections.
Three cheers for the Red, White and Blue! These painterly summer flowers are looking for a new home -- and the color combination is actually a lot more versatile than you might expect. Zoom in on this photo and you can see the actual brushstrokes and colors. Imagine it in a beach house, a summer cottage, or any room that needs a pop of color -- a kitchen, a hallway, a bedroom, a guest bath. Red, White and Blue is an 11 x 14 oil painted on canvas and framed in a classic light wood floating frame. The regular "Buy Now" price is $500, but to celebrate American Independence Day it will be sold tax-free to the highest bidder at auction. Starting bid is $150 - bid in increments of $10 - the auction ends Tuesday, July 3rd at 8pm Pacific. Collector gift certificates not valid for this sale, sorry. Shipping costs are extra. Interested? Leave your bid in the comments or on my Facebook Page. When I spied these geraniums on my friend's back deck, I knew I had to paint them. It's a good size painting - 22" x 28" - that is dry and ready for a new home, so tonight I sent out an e-mail to my list announcing my first "Painting of the Month." Another idea I'm giving a try: a store on my Facebook page for smaller, unframed paintings. As many of you know, my professional career has been in marketing communications. Now, I am working hard to divide my time between consulting for clients and painting. And on some days, like today, I am my own client! Several of my flower paintings have just been curated in to Turning Art, a new type of gallery that lets you "borrow" fine prints of artwork and build up credits to buy original art. The site is designed to help people choose art for their homes. Turning Art sends out a frame and the subscriber builds up a queue of images they like, and prints are sent out. Turning Art is definitely worth a look -- there is a lot of diverse and interesting art being made! |
