Commissioned Paintings

It is a honor to be asked to create a commissioned oil painting, and a privilege to work closely with clients to capture an impression of special people, places and times. Typically, a portrait or large scale painting commission will take several months to complete after initial meetings, model sittings, sketches, creating and using photo references and painting. Oil paintings take several weeks to dry before framing, and several months to fully cure before a final coat of protective varnish can be applied.
